After being contacted by some Australian Fowerakers, we now know that there are at least two different pronunciations
- In the UK:
- Fower as in Flower, aker is pronounced as in baker.
- In Australia:
- Fower as in Four, aker is pronounced as in acre.
In general native english speakers pronounce Foweraker correctly, even if they have never heard the name before, but have much more difficulty spelling it.
While living in Germany and France over the past few years, I've heard some very interesting attempts at pronounciation.
